The Red Fort, also known as Lal Qila, is one of India's most iconic historical monuments and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan between 1638 and 1648, the fort served as the main residence of the Mughal emperors for nearly 200 years. Constructed using red sandstone, the fort covers around 254 acres and features magnificent structures such as the Lahori Gate, Diwan-i-Aam, Diwan-i-Khas, Rang Mahal, Moti Masjid, and Mumtaz Mahal. Every year on Independence Day, the Prime Minister of India hoists the national flag from the Red Fort and addresses the nation, making it a symbol of India's history and independence.
