The Konark Sun Temple is one of India's greatest examples of ancient temple architecture and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built in the 13th century by King Narasimhadeva I of the Eastern Ganga dynasty, the temple was designed as a colossal stone chariot dedicated to Surya, the Sun God. The monument is famous for its 24 elaborately carved wheels, seven symbolic horses, and detailed sculptures depicting religious, royal, musical, and everyday life. Although the main sanctum is now largely in ruins, the surviving structures and carvings demonstrate extraordinary craftsmanship. It is one of Odisha's most important historical and cultural attractions.
