Jama Masjid, officially known as Masjid-i-Jehan-Numa, is one of the largest and most magnificent mosques in India. Built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan between 1650 and 1656, it is located opposite the Red Fort in Old Delhi. Constructed using red sandstone and white marble, the mosque features three grand gateways, four towers, two towering minarets standing about 40 meters high, and a vast courtyard capable of accommodating over 25,000 worshippers. Jama Masjid is a masterpiece of Mughal architecture and remains an active place of worship as well as a major tourist attraction, offering panoramic views of Old Delhi from its southern minaret.
