📖 About

Fatehpur Sikri, meaning the City of Victory, is a magnificent Mughal-era city built by Emperor Akbar in the 16th century. It served as the capital of the Mughal Empire from 1571 to 1585 and is one of India's most important historical monuments. The UNESCO World Heritage Site is famous for its red sandstone architecture, Buland Darwaza, Jama Masjid, Panch Mahal, Diwan-i-Khas, Jodha Bai's Palace and the Tomb of Sheikh Salim Chishti. Fatehpur Sikri showcases a remarkable blend of Islamic, Persian, Hindu and Jain architectural influences.
