Mysore Palace, also known as Amba Vilas Palace, is one of India's most magnificent royal palaces and the former residence of the Wadiyar dynasty of Mysore. The present palace was completed in 1912 after the earlier wooden palace was destroyed by fire. Built in the Indo-Saracenic style, it combines Hindu, Rajput, Mughal and Gothic architectural elements and is famous for its grand Durbar Hall, ornate interiors, stained-glass ceilings, carved doors, royal collections and spectacular illumination during Sundays, public holidays and the Mysore Dasara celebrations.
