The Bateshwar Group of Temples is a remarkable complex of nearly 200 sandstone shrines in the Chambal region of Madhya Pradesh. Built mainly between the 8th and 11th centuries by the Gurjara-Pratihara dynasty, the temples are dedicated to Shiva, Vishnu and Shakti. The complex is also famous for its extensive archaeological restoration, with many temples rebuilt from scattered original stones.
