Rani Ki Vav is a magnificent 11th-century stepwell in Patan, Gujarat, commissioned by Queen Udayamati in memory of King Bhimdev I. Designed as an inverted temple, the stepwell descends through multiple levels decorated with hundreds of intricately carved sculptures, pillars and ornamental details. It is one of India's finest examples of stepwell architecture and was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2014.
