Purana Qila, also known as the Old Fort, is one of the oldest and most significant historical monuments in Delhi. Believed by many historians to stand on the site of the ancient city of Indraprastha from the Mahabharata, the fort was rebuilt by Mughal Emperor Humayun and later completed by Sher Shah Suri in the 16th century. Spread over nearly 2 kilometers, the fort features impressive gateways, massive stone walls, beautiful gardens, and historical structures such as the Qila-i-Kuhna Mosque and Sher Mandal. The fort also hosts an evening sound and light show that narrates the rich history of Delhi. Today, Purana Qila is a popular destination for history enthusiasts, photographers, and families.
