Hawa Mahal, popularly known as the "Palace of Winds," is one of India's most iconic architectural landmarks and a symbol of Jaipur. Built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh and designed by architect Lal Chand Ustad, the five-story palace is constructed from pink and red sandstone in the unique Rajput architectural style with influences of Mughal design. The palace features 953 intricately carved jharokhas (windows), allowing cool air to circulate naturally, keeping the interiors comfortable even during the hot summer months. These windows also enabled royal women to observe street festivals and daily life without being seen. Today, Hawa Mahal is one of Rajasthan's most visited monuments, offering breathtaking views of the Pink City from its upper floors.
