📖 About

Gurudwara Bangla Sahib is one of the most revered Sikh places of worship in India and a prominent spiritual landmark in New Delhi. Originally built as a bungalow belonging to Raja Jai Singh in the 17th century, it became a Sikh shrine in memory of Guru Har Krishan Sahib Ji, the eighth Sikh Guru, who stayed here during a smallpox and cholera epidemic and devoted himself to serving the sick. The gurudwara is renowned for its magnificent golden dome, white marble architecture, peaceful prayer hall, and the sacred Sarovar (holy pond), whose water is considered holy by devotees. The complex also includes a community kitchen (Langar) that serves free meals to thousands of visitors every day, regardless of religion, caste, or nationality. It is a symbol of equality, selfless service, and compassion.
