Bidar Fort is a magnificent 15th-century fortress in Bidar, Karnataka, showcasing the architectural grandeur of the Bahmani Sultanate. Sultan Ala-Ud-Din Bahman shifted the Bahmani capital from Gulbarga to Bidar in 1427 and developed the fort along with several important Islamic monuments. The massive fort complex is known for its imposing gateways, defensive walls, bastions, moats, royal palaces, gardens and Indo-Islamic architectural details. Important structures within the complex include Rangeen Mahal, Takht Mahal, Gagan Mahal, Solah Khamba Mosque and royal baths. The fort is an important symbol of Bidar's medieval Deccan heritage and remains one of Karnataka's major historical attractions.
